The Children & Nature Network is inspiring the global movement to increase equitable access to nature so that children - and natural places - can thrive.

The C&NN International Leadership Summit will engage 400 people in productive working sessions in six action areas: Green Schoolyards, City Government, Next Generation Leadership, Grassroots Leaders, Healthcare Providers, Nature-based Learning Research. Summit participants will work over two days to develop shared goals, action agendas and explore methods for measuring progress in their Action Areas.

Since you are participating in a specific Action Area, your schedule will be completed for you-- this means that you will not need to sign up for any Summit sessions in Sched. By the beginning of May, we will link your Sched profile to your Action Area.

City Government Action Area
Location: Junior Ballroom 2

The City Government Action Area has the primary goal of inspiring action toward advancing efforts to more equitably connect children to nature. By bringing together city government and community leaders, we will engage in an interactive series of sessions that will give participants concrete case studies, tools, and resources.

Based on work in cities across the U.S. in the Cities Connecting Children to Nature initiative, the summit sessions will include topics that span across the four primary areas:

1. Policies that can support citywide equity efforts to connect children to nature.
2. Built environment infrastructure that supports nature in the city, including the 10 Minute Walk to a Park campaign.
3.Programs that can be replicated and scaled to achieve more equitable access to programs across a city.
4. Measuring the status and success of efforts to connect children to nature.

The sessions will be led by the Children & Nature Network, National League of Cities and additional national and local partners who will offer multiple strategies for each of these areas, such as early childcare education nature play areas, NatureSmart Libraries, green schoolyards, park activation, safe routes to schools and parks, and others.
