The Children & Nature Network is inspiring the global movement to increase equitable access to nature so that children - and natural places - can thrive.

The C&NN International Leadership Summit will engage 400 people in productive working sessions in six action areas: Green Schoolyards, City Government, Next Generation Leadership, Grassroots Leaders, Healthcare Providers, Nature-based Learning Research. Summit participants will work over two days to develop shared goals, action agendas and explore methods for measuring progress in their Action Areas.

Since you are participating in a specific Action Area, your schedule will be completed for you-- this means that you will not need to sign up for any Summit sessions in Sched. By the beginning of May, we will link your Sched profile to your Action Area.

Monday, May 21 • 10:30am - 12:30pm
Green Schoolyards Action Area
Location: Grand Ballroom Oakland Marriott City Center

The primary goal for those meeting about Green Schoolyards is to adopt a draft Action Agenda that will prioritize the funding, policy, communications and awareness-building needed to move green schoolyards to scale across the U.S. Participants will be asked to identify which Action Agenda items they can help move forward towards this goal.

The Green Schoolyards Action Area will refine and adopt an Action Agenda that was drafted with input from leaders at the 2015 National Green Schoolyards Summit, conversations with communities and experts in the field reports such as "Green Schoolyards: A Growing Movement Supporting Health, Education and Connection with Nature," authored by the Healthy Schools Campaign and Openlands.

The draft agenda is designed to prioritize the funding, policy, communications and awareness-building needed to move city- or school district-wide green schoolyard programs to scale across the U.S. — with an emphasis on low-income communities and communities of color. You will be asked to identify Action Agenda items that you can carry forward in your community and/or organization.
